Cet ensemble comprend 25 brefs traités que les manuscrits nous ont transmis comme étant le deuxième livre du De anima. « In fact it consists of a series of short and more or less independant pieces. […] Bruns argues […] that the Mantissa contained texts of two types. One, the majority, consists of lists of arguments […] against specific theses, often identifiably those of rival philosophical schools. […] Bruns […] regards the remaining sections as forming a single group, “comments completed by Alexander himself and published separately”. In fact, they are more heterogeneous than this might suggest. » R. W.
